August 13 2009: StormCenter has installed an Envirocast® Vision™ TouchTable (EVTT) at the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The EVTT will be used to further the IARC’s ability to visualize the latest Arctic research data and information and advance collaboration capabilities with other universities and organizations also studying changes in the Arctic.Dr. Larry Hinzman, Director of the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), is excited to have this technology in place which has been put to use already by graduate students working to improve their visualization, presentation and communication skills. Dr. Hinzman has been recognized for his extensive knowledge of interdisciplinary processes that have created a more integrated understanding of climate change impacts on circumpolar processes, particularly with regard to permafrost and hydrology. The EVTT will accelerate the capability to tell the story of how the Arctic is changing and now be able to show the data in a way that is understandable to the public and intriguing to the students. For more information on how you can establish the EVTT at your university to further visualization and collaboration capabilities, please contact us at info@stormcenter.com.
