The image on the right was taken by the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor
(SeaWiFS) onboard the ORBVIEW-2 satellite and shows the hazy, polluted air that
covered most of the East Coast of the United States during a
code red ozone day on Thursday, June 26, 2003. The animation above
from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows how 8-hour average
concentrations peaked during the afternoon of June 26 (to restart the
