Background

Images

The images on the right were taken by Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) onboard NASA's Terra satellite. They show the fires burning on either side of Interstate 15 near the Cajon Pass in the San Bernardino Mountains, roughly 80 km (50 mi) east of Los Angeles, CA. on Sunday, October 26, 2003.

This animation was created using the still frames available to your right.  It shows how the fires viewed in natural color and false color images in Southern California on October 26, 2003.

Note: The animation above shows how you can use the images to your right in your weathercast to show the fire evolution.  Save each of the still images to your right at the appropriate resolution for your system (either 720x486 or 640x480) and dissolve from one to another in sequence to achieve the above effect.
